How Extra-curricular Activities Can Influence Students’ Future Career

Some people think that extracurricular activities have no influence on students’ future career.
Conversely, I think they play a crucial role here. Moreover, they are equally important to a
student’s educational activities. They both balance each other showing clearly that education
should go further than teaching space walls.
Recent research has demonstrated that students who participate in extracurricular activities
have a noticeable enhancement in their ratings. The reason is the experience in better time
scheduling, better administrative skills and a boost in their confidence. Students also learn how
to shape and express their thoughts, which can help them in the classroom greatly.
Students have to combine their academic life with pastimes harmonically. They have to find
an optimal way of integrating their co-curricular activities into their academic life and pay
enough attention to each. They have to be able to organize their day properly to use their free
time effectively. This will definitely reduce such a negative phenomenon as procrastination.
Students gain important skills to use in life and in the future profession. They develop the
ability to work in a team as well as critical thinking. They also learn the importance of senses
of obligation and responsibility.
During their co-curricular activities, students make new friends. In other words, they are
engaged in activities with personalities of various interests, and can easily exchange knowledge
with them.
School students participating in extracurricular activities have higher chances to enter the
university. Most universities require the list of extracurricular activities apart from student’s
academics.
The aim of education is to promote social harmony and comprehensive student’s development.
This includes the student’s intellectual, social, spiritual and physical competences. This is
where co-curricular activities will help to gain the balance between all these competencies, thus
benefitting a student.
