ABSTRACT

The current study was conducted to prove the capability of peace lily leaves to

absorb air pollutants through exhaust fan. Specially, this sought to determine the number

of peace lily that can absorb air pollutants. It is also sought to find out if there is

significant difference in the amount of air pollutants received by peace lily plants and the

other plants.

Experimental single group design was used in the study. Three experimental set

up with varying number of peace lily leaves were prepared, Set up 1 is composed of two

peace lily leaves. Set up 2 is composed of 3 peace lily leaves and set up 3 is composed of

4 peace lily leaves. The leaves were inserted in an exhaust fan. The amount of polluted

air pollutants absorbed by the peace lily leaves were determined and tabulated

Results showed that Set up 1 with 2 pieces of leaves was able to absorbed 41% air

pollutants. Set up with 3 pieces of leaves was able to absorbed 48 % air pollutants. Set up

3 with four peace lily leaves was able to absorb 62% air pollutants. Four of peace lily

leaves , set up 3, was able to absorb 62% air pollutants as compared with the other plants

which absorbed 30% only.

This led the researcher to conclude that peace lily leaves has the capability to

absorb air pollutants.
