2. Review
Think – Pair – Share (Solve for Summation)
These are the 18 major Lumad ethno linguistic groups in
Mindanao with their estimated number of populations.
1. ∑𝑛𝑖=18 =
2. ∑𝑛𝑖=10 =

B. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation (activity)
Video clip about Lumad on Mindanao (5 minutes)
2. Presentation/Discussion
Choose one student to read the first statement, then another
student for the second one and so on… then the teacher will
provide some examples.
MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY
When working with numerical data, it is often helpful to
use one or more numbers to represent the whole set. These
numbers are called the measure of central tendency. This includes
the mean, median and mode.
Mean – sum of the data divided by the number of items/populations in
the set of data.
Using same data above which are the 18 major Lumad Ethno
linguistic groups in Mindanao with their estimated number of
populations we will be going to find their mean?
In getting the mean, this is the formula
∑𝑥 ∑ 𝑥=𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑥
𝑥= where
𝑁 𝑁=𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑥
85,89,98,92,80,78,79,90,84,81,87,95,88,93,86,91,83,79
x= 18
1,558
x= 18
x = 86.56
Hence, the mean population of the major Lumad Ethno linguistic
groups in Mindanao is 86.56
3. Activity Proper (Brain Storming)
The math grades of thirteen Bagobo students are the following;
90,86,93,91,95,89,88,94,92,93,90,91,96.
Find the mean.
Instructions:
Work by pair, and then write your answer in your notebook. Do
this in 15 minutes.
4. Reinforcing the concept/skill
The student will complete the given statement in a one fourth sheet of
paper.
“I am happy because I have learned that…”
C. Post Activities
5. Abstraction
From our previous example, the math grades of thirteen Bagobo
students, describe the data in terms of their mean.
As a summary, anybody can describe the data and how the measure of
central tendency being used as an important tool in analyzing a data.
How are we going to appreciate Lumad culture?
6. Application
Find the mean of the following set of data.
1. A score of Tina a Mansaka students in a Biology quiz.
25 28 27 32 20
26 31 25 34 27
