FOUNDATION DAY

July 5
Every 5th of july Cabiao National High School Celebrates its Foundation Day. Its is an event to
celebrate and remember the history of the Cabiao High School (CHS) now Cabiao National High School
(CNHS), its achievements & contributions to the community & our nation.
CNHS on its 3 years of existence has grown remarkably from a humble beginning w/ 356
hardworking students; seven devoted teaching staff and one industrious janitor. Now CNHS has 4,000+
eager students and 130 workers in the system. It was founded thru the dynamic leadership of the late
Supt. Mariano R. Guevarra and the unlimited support of the people led by the controversial and
formidable late mayor Pablo Alegada.
On this day we remember celebrate & highlight simple-events in the life of our school. As we
look back at the past years of gratitude & respect to our founders. As we recall those days we give our
heartfelt gratitude to you for what we are today.
We pause for a moment for a silent prayer for the late Supt. Mariano Guevarra the first principal
who is celebrating his birthday on July 5. With God’s wisdom drafted the blueprint, direction (of the
CHS) & future of CHS. Mr. Guevarra’s desire to uplifts the life of the towns people prompted him to
work hard for realization of his brainchild-a secondary school. He first approached acting Mayor Isais
Manalastas. Then he contracted Mr. Jose Galang who was one of the most civic-minded citizens of
Cabiao who had helped much in the putting up of the school.
Its history won’t be complete w/o mentioning the dramatic & unique construction of the road &
the 14 room main building was made possible thru Mayor Pablo Aligada’s effort, human labor & local
funds. A five percent contribution was solicited from the farmers of Cabiao. Voluntary labor was rendered
by the people to build the road and traversing the Nabao creek to connect the school site to the town
proper. With bare hands, the people including the pioneer students & teachers laid the foundation of the
school. Heedless of the cold water (10-12 feet deep) the scorching heat of the sun, they toiled & build the
road w/ the people & the government’s concerned efforts & determination a service institution was
formed.
Today Cabiao National High School on its 65 years of existence, has grown remarkably from a
humble beginning with 356 hardworking students, 7 devoted teaching staffs and one janitor. Now Cabiao
National High School has more than 4,000 thousands eager students.
As we recall those days, we give our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for what we are today.

It is heartbreaking to note that the structure that symbolized the common effort of the people of
Cabiao to distinguish themselves in the fields of education had vanished like a smoke in space and not
even a shadow to remind about the glorious memory of the past. It is painful but a reality we have to
endure. It was principal Elvina Camacho’s term in a building was condemned and demolished in April
2000 based from her decision from Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 120, Series 1997.
