Did you know that the Members of the Muslim community are concentrated in the five provinces of
ARMM. Among the 28 provinces in Mindanao, Lanao del Sur has the largest percentage of Muslims with
94% of its population practicing Islam, contributing approximately 4.05% of the islands’ total population.

Did you know that Kabayan, one of the municipalities of Benguet in the Cordillera Mountain Ranges, is
home to a total of 200 man-made burial caves, 15 of which contain perfectly preserved human
mummies.

"Panacot" or the Present day "Scarborough Shoal" can be seen in the 1734, 1744 and 1760 Murillo

Did you know that the first train outside Manila was built in Pangasinan. The railway officially opened on
November 24, 1892. It’s route is from Dagupan City to Tutuban in Manila. The railway is no longer
functioning, but anybody can still see its remains in Tutuban.

Lipa City in Batangas is dubbed as the “Rome of the Philippines” because of the number of seminaries,
convents, monasteries, retreat houses, and a famous cathedral located in it.

Did you know that Cavity City is known as “A Place With a Glorious Past" because It is the birthplace of a
good number of Filipino heroes and it has an interesting range of sites associated with the Philippine
Revolution of 1896. Found in the province is the residence of the first president of the republic, Emilio
Aguinaldo, which is also the site where the Philippine Republic was proclaimed onune 12, 1898.

Ihawig Prison in Palawan allows its inmates to work in rice fields and act as tour guides without the need
of walls or hundred of prison guards.

Region 5

The Bicol Region is home to both the world's largest and smallest fishes. Donsol, a fishing town in
Sorsogon province, serves as a sanctuary to a group of 40 whale sharks (Rhincodon typus), which are
considered as the largest fish in the world. The world's smallest commercial fish, sinarapan (Mistichthys
luzonensis), can be found only in Lakes Bato and Buhi in Camarines Sur province.

Region 6

Did you know that Aklan is known for its famous island which is Boracay and the annual Ati-atihan
Festival celebrated every January. According to the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Foundation, Inc. (KASAFI),
the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival recognized as “The Mother of All Philippine Festivals” originated
in their coastal province.

Region 7

Oldest City, Fort, Street and School

Cebu city was founded in 1565 by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. As the oldest city in the Philippines, it is
home to some of the earliest structures and landmarks in the country, including the oldest fort (port of
San Pedro), street (colon street), and one of the oldest educational institutions (University of San Carlos)
1595.

Region 8

The San Juanico Bridge connecting the provinces of Samar and Leyte is one of the monumental projects
under Former President Ferdinand Marcos’ administration. It is known to be the longest bridge in the
Philippines spanning a body of seawater with the length of 2.162 kilometers (1.34 mi) and width of
10.620 meters supported by 43 spans.

Region 9

Canelar Barter Center in Zamboaga City will give you the best value for your buck. Imported goods from
nearby Malaysia and Indonesia can be bought at cheaper prices here. Chocolates, noodles, coffee,
clothes and the malong are popular pasalubong items.

Region 10

Camiguin has the most number of volcanoes per sq.km than any other island on earth.
