1. What is SMART?
• Various types of content including service manuals and user's guides for different products produced by ICT Service Business Operations
(ISB) of Marketing Headquarters are distributed via the web to customer engineers (CEs) all over the world.
• You have easy access to the various types of content at any time and from anywhere as long as you are operating in an environment in
which you can connect to the Internet, regardless of whether you use a PC or a smartphone.
• PDF data can also be downloaded* so you can view the data in an offline environment.
NOTE
• Some types of content cannot be downloaded.

2. What Can be Done?

2.1 Viewing the latest information
• Accessing SMART from a PC that is connected to a network enables contents of a service manual, user's guide, installation manual, or
visual content (hereinafter collectively referred to as "content") containing the latest information to be viewed.
• The content does not represent differences, but carries all information at all times, which eliminates the need for adding the differences to
the older version.
• The Comparison PDF in Revision List is available for understanding major changes made in each version.
• The topic currently viewed may even be printed.
NOTE
• The user's guides and installation manuals are uploaded starting with the latest models.
• The Comparison PDF can be viewed in the service manual only.
2.2 Recording memos and sharing information

• Specific details of content being viewed can be saved as a memo. Your memo thus saved may be viewed when you next access the same
topic. This feature comes in handy for saving know-how and personal notes.
• If one SMART ID is shared among many users, saving the memo allows the memo to be shared among the viewers. When you view a topic
for which another user has saved a memo before, you can view the memo. This is convenient for sharing know-how and notes among many
users.
NOTE
• The "Memo" function can be used in the service manual only.
2.3 Viewing information in an offline environment

• To view information using a PC brought out to an environment in which no access can be gained to the network, downloading the PDF data
of the content to the local PC in advance allows the content to be viewed properly.
• A specific chapter of the service manual PDF data can also be downloaded and viewed.
NOTE
• The "PDF Download" function can be used only in the PC version service manual. (The PDF version service manual data cannot
be downloaded for the PDA (mobile) version.)
2.4 Enabling smooth sharing of information during escalation of service manual information
• In the escalation of questions or matters pointed out regarding the service manual to CS Expert Support (CSES), topic IDs help locate
where those information pertains.
• With the conventional PDF, it takes a long time and trouble to identify the specific location within the service manual even with the
information given on the page number or section number (because the page number and section number very often vary among different
versions of the PDF data).
NOTE
• The minimum units that constitute the service manual are referred to as "topics". A unique ID is assigned to each of the topics.
(The topic IDs are assigned to the topics of the service manual only.)

3. Logging In
• Several different procedures are available to log in to the SMART.
• Use the appropriate log-in procedure according to the environment in which you operate and according as how you use the SMART.
3.1 Logging in directly to the SMART website

3.1.1 Logging in from PC

• http://smart2.bt.konicaminolta.jp/
1. Open the above URL in the PC browser. The log-in screen appears.
NOTE
• You can use an ID of CS Expert Support (CSES) if you have one.
• Clicking "Go to PDA (Mobile) Version" will bring you to the log-in screen for the PDA (Mobile) version.
• If you forget your password or ID, click "Forgotten your password or id" in the log-in screen. By performing steps as
instructed on the screen, you will receive an advice on the ID and password via the e-mail address registered upon creation of
the ID.
2. Select [Language], enter [UserID] and [Password], and click [Login]. The SMART home screen will appear.

• Information: Informs you of the system operating status and other information (in a separate window).
• What’s New: Displays a list of newly disclosed pieces of content (in a separate window). Clicking "Document Name" in the list
will display the content under another tab.

1. Open the above URL in the PDA (mobile) browser. The log-in
screen appears.
NOTE

• The SMART content can be viewed without the need to log in to SMART again.

1. Open the above URL of the CSES site in the PC browser.
2. Enter [UserID] and [Password], and click [OK]. The CS Expert Support (CSES) home screen will appar.
3. Click the link icon [1] of the top menu. A pull-down list will appear.
4. Click SMART [2] in the pull-down list. The SMART home screen will appear.

1.1 Basic operations
The following two methods are available to view the content.
1.1.1 Viewing content online

The following procedure can be followed to view the web version content online.
1. Select the desired document type from the tree under the [Document Type] tab in the [Home] screen.
2. Select the desired model.
3. Another browser tab opens, displaying the selected content.
4. You may go back to the [Home] tab to reselect the content.

To view the content offline, it is necessary to download the content PDF data to the local PC (or mobile device).
NOTE
• The service manuals and installation manuals can be viewed offline.
• The user's guides and visual contents cannot be viewed offline (cannot be downloaded).
1.2 Online website viewing procedures

1.2.1 Viewing service manuals
(1) Viewing by document type
1. Select "Service Manual" from the tree under the [Document Type] tab in the [Home] screen.

2. Select the category of the product to be viewed.

4. Select the service manual of the product to be viewed.

5. Another browser tab opens, displaying the service manual of the desired product.
6. From the tree in the service manual screen, select the item to be viewed. The desired topic will be displayed.
7. Another piece of content may be selected by going back to the [Home (SMART)] tab. The text display area of the [Home (SMART)]
displays the "PDF Download" screen of the service manual selected last. The PDF data can be downloaded from this screen.

(b) Registering and deleting My Memo

NOTE
• "My Memo" allows you to add a memo that may be "Caution" or "Warning" on the topic.
• "My Memo" is managed by the user ID and only the user who uses the specific user ID can view the memo.
• If an ID is shared among two or more users, registering the "My Memo" allows these users to share the memo.
My Memo input example:
1. Click [New Memo]. The "My memo input screen" appears.

2. Click [▼] and select the type (Caution/Warning) of the "My Memo".
NOTE
• A memo can be registered without specifying the "type".
• The "type" may be added later.
3. Enter the memo text in the "memo field".

4. When the memo text has been entered, click the "Add" key.
5. When the "My Memo" has been registered, the "topic revision number" and [UPDATE] and [DEL] keys appear to the right of the memo
field.
NOTE
• To add the "type" after the "My Memo" has been registered, select the "type" and click [UPDATE].
6. To correct a "My Memo", correct the details in the memo field and click [UPDATE].
7. To delete a "My Memo", click [DEL] corresponding to the specific "My Memo" to be deleted. This deletes the specific "My Memo" from
the list.
8. Click [Hide Memo] to close the "My memo input screen". Clicking [Show Memo] redisplays the "My Memo".

• Clicking [My Memo] displays a list of all “My Memo” registered for the currently viewed service manual.
• The list shows the "topic name", the icon representing the "type", and details of the "My Memo".
• Clicking the "topic name" displays the specific topic to which the "My Memo" has been added.

1. Select the name of the product to be viewed from the tree under the [Products] tab in the [Home] screen.

1.3 Offline viewing procedures

1.3.1 Downloading PDF version service manuals
The service manual can be downloaded by following the procedure given below.
1. Select "Service Manual" from the tree under the [Document Type] tab in the [Home] screen.
3. Another browser tab opens, displaying the selected web version service manual.
4. Go back to the [Home] tab. Then, the content display area displays a list of data to be downloaded as the PDF version service manual.

5. Clicking the desired [PDF (***KB)] key displays a "Download License Agreement".
6. Before downloading the data, be sure to carefully read the entire paragraphs of the "Download License Agreement".
If the Agreement is not acceptable, click the [Cancel] key, which suspends the downloading sequence.
NOTE:
• Clicking [Approve] means that you have accepted and consented to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
7. Click [Approve]. This starts the downloading of the PDF data.

5. TERMINATION
You may terminate this license at any time by destroying the Materials and all your copies of them. This Agreement shall also terminate if
you fail to comply with any terms hereof. Upon such termination, you must immediately destroy all copies of the Materials in your

6. GOVERNING LAW
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Japan.
7. SEVERABILITY
In the event that any part or parts of this agreement shall be held illegal or null and void by any court or administrative body of competent
jurisdiction, such determination shall not effect the remaining parts of this agreement and they shall remain in full force and effect as if
such part or parts determined illegal or void had not been included.
YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTAND IT, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS

1.3.2 Downloading the PDF version installation manuals

The installation manual can be downloaded by following the procedure given below.
1. Select "Installation Manual" from the tree under the [Document Type] tab in the [Home] screen.
3. Another browser tab opens, displaying the selected web version installation manual.
4. Go back to the [Home] tab. Then, the content display area displays "Document Contents Display".

6. A "Download License Agreement" appears.
7. Before downloading the data, carefully read the entire paragraphs of the "Download License Agreement”.
If the Agreement is not acceptable, click [Cancel], which suspends the downloading sequence.

• Clicking [Approve] means that you have accepted and consented to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
8. Click [Approve]. This starts the downloading of the PDF data.

2.1 Basic operations
The following procedure may be used to view the content.
Home screen
NOTE
• The screen display and operating procedure vary depending on the OS and web browser.
1. Touch the Type field in the [Home] screen. A list appears, indicating
the types of content.
2. Select the desired document type from the list.
E.g.: Type/Service manual
3. Touch the Category field in the [Home] screen. A list appears,

indicating the categories under the type.
4. Select the desired category.
E.g.: Category/Color MFP
5. A list appears in the [Home] screen, indicating the pieces of content
that satisfy the Type and Category requirements.
6. Select and touch the desired content. Another browser tab opens,
displaying the selected content.
7. You may go back to the [Home] tab to reselect the content.

The "product content list" that appears in step 5 may be narrowed down by a desired product series.
1. After the Type and Category have been selected in the [Home] screen, touch the Series field.
2. A list appears in the [Home] screen, indicating the pieces of
content that satisfy the requirements of the specified series

2. Select the desired service manual from the [Home] screen. For the
detailed selection procedure, see "B.2.1 Basic operations".
The service manual of the desired model appears on the TOP
screen.

: Searches the service manual using any given
keyword (a list of search results is displayed in another

tab).

: My Memo registered in the PC version SMART can
be shared with the PDA (mobile) version.

• Touching the icon displays a My Memo list of the service
manual being viewed. Touching a topic in the list displays
the topic to which a My Memo has been attached.
