Why do we need to choose a research design?

When constructing a building you will need a blueprint for the design of the
building, it requires a thorough planning since it will be hazardous for those who will
inhabit it.
This also applies in conducting research, because a research design serves as a
blueprint for conducting a research project. It is the overall operational pattern of the
research. Because it will be your general plan on how you will conduct your study. It
serves as guide for the collection and analysis of data. Since it details with the
procedures necessary for gathering information needed to solve research problems.
This will help you identify what information you need to collect, from which sources,
and on how you collect your data.
When you use research design in conducting research projects it is more
advantageous than without using any. Research designs guides the research a sense of
direction since you already have a plan ahead of the project. You can envision already
the types of resources needed in conducting the study, in terms of money, manpower,
time and efforts needed to collect and analyze your data. Your research will be efficient
and reliable since you already planned it thoroughly. It will also make your study
accurate.
Therefore, I conclude that, you really need to choose a research design because
research designs have significant impact of the reliability of the results of your study.
Since it acts out as a firm foundation for the entire study.

Why we need a sample in our study?

Samples are defined as a selection of respondents for a research study to

represent the total population.
We need samples in our study because we need to find representative samples
to avoid bias in collecting the information. Sampling bias occurs when the units that are
selected from the population for inclusion in your sample do not have the
characteristics of the population. This can lead to your sample being unrepresentative of
the population you are interested in.
It is more advantageous that you select the correct samples since you can save
time compared when you do a complete census. It saves money because it is less costly
than doing a census. Samples allows more particular attention to be given to a number
of elements than conducting census. You can guarantee that there are less errors in
reporting the results.
Determining the correct sample size and how the samples are selected are crucial
in ensuring the accuracy and precision of an estimate leading to a valid research finding.

Is a questionnaire important in research?

Why or why not

Yes, questionnaires are important in conducting a research since it is

an instrument consisting of a series of questions for the purpose of
gathering information from the respondents. It can be carried out face to
face, by telephone computer or post.
Questionnaires provides a relatively cheap, quick and efficient way of
obtaining large amounts of information from a large sample of people. Data
can be collected quickly because the researcher will not need to present
when the questionnaires are completed. These are useful for large
populations when interviews would be impractical.
Questionnaires can be an effective way of measuring the behavior,
attitudes, preferences, opinions and intentions of relatively large numbers
of subjects more cheaply and quickly than other methods.
The information provided by the respondents can be easily converted
into quantitative data allowing statistical analysis of the responses. It is
more economical, it can provide a large sample size can be obtained which
should be representative of the population.
Questionnaires have more advantages over some other types of
surveys that often have standardized answers that makes it simple to
compile data.

Why we need to collect data when conducting research?

We need to collect data to gather precise and accurate information as

evidence for analysis to formulate answers that are credible to the questions
posed in your study.
Collecting data allows you to store and analyze important information
about you

Why do we need to test our research study?

We need to test our research because it is an important part of the

data analysis plan.
With the help of sample data you can form scientific assumptions or
guess, then we have to test those assumptions or guess statistically. It is
called hypothesis testing.
Testing looks at the data gathered for a particular hypothesis being
true. You can think of testing as a guide in making decision. You need to
make a decision whether to accept or reject a hypothesis.
We test these hypothesis to know whether there is a difference
between two sets of data, its either these data cause differences.
It is very vital to test your research to know what hypothesis are
accepted or rejected.
