Video 4 (COOKING)
If you love a movie about food stuff and little bit of romance I recommend you to
watch this. The hundred-foot journey is a movie about a Kadam family who open
an Indian restaurant in France because they have lost their home. Actually, this
movie is adapted from novel “The hundred-foot journey” by Richard C. Morais.
At the beginning, this movie show how Kadam family have lost everything and
forced to move from their homeland. During their journey on finding perfect place
to live, their car was broken so they have to stop at a small town in France. When
everything felt like a messed up for them, they find out that there is a cheap small
land for sale. They intend to open restaurant like they did before with that. But
there is one problem, a fancy restaurant standing across the street. The worst part
is, it belongs to madam Mallory. She is cold hearted chef who want to achieve third
star in Michelin award.
On the first day of opening restaurant they struggle to have ingredient in the local
market. They find out that madam Mallory was behind all of this. The trouble is not
over yet, in the night of grand opening no one is coming. When everyone almost
giving up on idea of opening restaurant. Somehow, they find a way to attract
people and later the grand opening is going well for them. On the other hand,
madam Mallory feel annoyed because the crowd at Kaddam restaurant could
prevent her to achieve third star. And since that the war between madam Mallory
and Kadam family begin.

Since every side hate each other, one of their family member (Hassan) is in love
with one of kitchen staff from madam Mallory restaurant, Marguerite. It’s sound
pretty cliché for me, the way how he and she failing each other. Perhaps that’s just
an addition to make the movie has a romance side. She told him everything that
she knows about cooking. And soon he realizes that a lot of cooking skill that must
be improved. He intended to join madam Mallory side, of course her father denied.
And at this point a lot of things happen which will lead to Hassan character
development.
Video 3 (PANORAMIC)
I can say that everything at movie is really beautifully taken, the way how France
scenery and its atmosphere is really enjoyed to watch. This movie is based on
adapted from novel. Sadly, I haven’t read it yet so I can’t say much about the story.
For me, the story its pretty good but the conflict between madam Mallory and
Kadam family should be more intense (complex). Perhaps if you read the novel too
you will get the feel.
