For Consumer Licenses –

 Steps –
1. Ask for the product key from customer
2. Check product key on KIT.
3. If it’s a product key, take remote access, open word appgo to
FileAccountClick on change product keyEnter product key
4. If it’s a POSA Card –
 Check it on ORST for its status. If status is –
 Created – Ask customer to contact retailer to get the key activated
by scanning it.
 Microsoft Office
 Activated – Ask customer to go to website Office.com/setup and sign
in with a MSAEnter the product keyIf it’s a subscription
product, ask customer whether he wants to turn AUTO RENEW On
or OffDownload.
 Redeemed/Consumed – Take customer to
account.microsoft.comServices and SubscriptionsClick on Install
option in front of product’s name.
 Note – In services and subscriptions section you can also choose the
offline installer or choose a 32 Bit/64 Bit Setup file.
5. Once, the download is complete, Open any MS Office App, eg. – Word
6. In that app go to FileAccountClick on sign in and sign in with MSA with which
the License is linked.
7. Activation Successful!

For educational Licenses –

 Office 365 University –

1. Generate AVE Code using ORST by asking Student’s school email adderss, name of
institution, Location.
2. Take customer to Office.com/verify and make him enter the 20 character AVE code
on that website for purchase and then he may download it.
 Office 365 Pro Plus Student Advantage –
1. Ask the customer to go to portal.office.com and make him sign in with his school
email address. If his beneficiary administrator had provided him subscription, he’ll
be able to download it.

For Office for MAC 2011 –

 If the customer has a 27 character POSA card – take customer to getkey.microsoft.com

For HUP Products –

 Check if Customer has a Organization code.

 If he has the code, take customer to microsofthup.com to make the purchase.

Run Commands for Applications –

1. Winword – to open MS Word

2. Powerpnt – to open MS Powerpoint
3. Winword /safe – to open word in safe mode
4. Outlook /safe – To open Outlook in safe mode
5. Outlook /cleanviews – To open Outlook with Hardware Graphical Acceleration disabled

Troubleshooting –

1. If Word crashes –
a. Open word in safe mode with run command “winword /safe”
b. Go to FileOptionsAdd insCOM Add insDisable all the COM Add ins
c. If it fails
d. Run appwiz.cpl
e. Give a right click on Office Suite
f. Click on change
 Microsoft Office
g. Choose online repair, this should resolve the issue. Before doing this step – Ensure
Backup of Outlook data is taken.
2. If Office is not Uninstalling –
a. Go to support.office.com
b. Search and Download FixIT Tool – It will uninstall all the Office Suites from computer
3. If any technical issue in any other app – Download FixIt for that app and repair it.
4. Unable to send/receive mails in Outlook –
a. Check of it’s a Exchange Server or not
b. If exchange server – Transfer to CTR
c. If Not
d. Go to FileAccount Settings
e. Check in description if data file is .ost or .pst
f. If .ost file – Delete the email account by clicking on remove and sign in again with
that account
g. If .pst file – Take a backup of the data
i. Go to FileOpen And ExportImport/ExportChoose export to a Data
FileChoose location of Backup, e.g. – Desktop
h. Now, delete the user profile
i. Sign in with that account.
j. If confusion in port numbers – Check from ISP lookup tool in ASD
k. Now restore the backup file –
i. Go to File Open and ExportImport/ExportChoose Import from a data
fileChoose location of that fileSelect the file
l. Voila !
5. You are using an unlicensed product –
a. For this type of error, we will need to use OSPP command –
i. Open elevated command prompt
ii. Now open C drive in file explorer and go to the path where Microsoft Office
is Intalled.
iii. Open Office 15/Office16/Office19 folder.
iv. Copy the path of this folder.
v. Now go to command prompt type “cd path”
vi. Now type “cscript unpkey:”product key”
vii. It’ll uninstall the already present license. E.g. – cscript ospp.vbs
/unpkey:MFKXT-F6DT2-THMRV-KDWH2-TCDTC
viii. Now either activate by MSA or use the product key by example command –
cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:MFKXT-F6DT2-THMRV-KDWH2-TCDTC
6. Office Installation is getting stuck between 75 – 90 % -
a. Stop/disable/restart the print spooler service from services.msc run command and
then begin the Install again.

Types Of Servers –

1. POP –
a. Emails get deleted from Webmail as soon as they are downloaded in Application (eg-
Outlook)
b. Always a .pst file is created in Outlook for POP Emails.
c. Mails do not get synced, instead they are downloaded.
d. Usually configured in Email accounts with less storage space.
 Microsoft Office
2. IMAP –
a. Supports sync between Webmail and Email applications being used to various
devices.
b. If any email deleted from Phone or Desktop, it’ll be deleted from Webmail as well.
c. .ost is created by default in Outlook, but a .pst may also be created.
d. All folders of Webmail are synced
3. Exchange Server –
a. Supports active sync
b. Along with emails and folders, Calendars and Contacts are also synced.
c. Outlook creates .ost file by default but a .pst may also be created.
d. Port Numbers are different and hence we transfer the call to CTR.

Outlook Data Files –

1. .ost – Image copy of server mails, contains only those emails which are present on
server or Webmail.
2. .pst – Offline or local data file – Consists of emails which are saved on the local drive
of the computer, irrespective of emails present on the server/Webmail.

Tools –

 DRGT – Used to send Installation link of HUP Office on customer’s work email address
 DRGC – Used for Offline activation of Office for MAC 2008,2011
 PACSR – Used for Offline activation of Office – 2007,2010,2013,2016(Both PC and MAC),
2019(Both PC and MAC)
 ORST –
1. Used to check MSA with which Office is linked
2. Used to give MIR or MTLU
3. Used to generate AVE Code
4. Used to check status of POSA Card
 FIXIT – Used to uninstall Office
 OSPP – Office Software Protection Platform
