Chemical Composition of Living Things

3 things universe is composed of:

Matter, Energy and Empty Space.

Chemistry – study of how matter interacts.

Element – most basic form of matter.

Compound – combination of two or more elements.

Atoms – smallest particles.

Molecule – to or more atoms joined together.

Molecular Bonds – formed when two or more atoms are bonded together. These bonds
are energy links between the atoms.
Two main types of chemical bonds:
Covalent Bond – most common type of bond. They occur when two or more
atoms share a pair of electrons.
Ionic Bond – here there is a complete transfer of electrons from one molecule
to another.

Sub-Atomic Particles – smaller particles atom is made up.

Proton – positively charge particles.

Neutron – has no charge.

Electron – negatively charge particle.
