just cut a length of fabric (however long you want it) fold in half, measure in from seam about 5" and
from top about 7" and cut a circle for arm holes ....thats it

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I think a plain color would look better, especially when open but this is the fabric I had, also use a lightweight
non fray fabric with stretch to it so no sewing is needed around edges to get the nice draped look
