Motorola MTS 4 TETRA Base Station

Setting new standards for high performance and reliability at

optimal cost for mission critical communications
Tough and extremely reliable, the Motorola MTS 4 is a high
specification, full redundant TETRA base station offering mission
critical users the ultimate control in professional communications.
Smaller, lighter and even more versatile than standard base station,
this compact base station offers high performance and high
reliability with superb cost efficiency.

Compact Design. Optimum Performance.

With an enhanced receiver sensitivity performance, MTS 4 delivers 7.5 dB better

than the standard base station. With a high transmit power and at -113.5 dBm faded
receive sensitivity, the base station enables significant coverage improvement with
fewer sites, with no compromise on the grade of service.

The MTS 4 offers Multi-Slot Packet Data (MSPD) providing enhanced data services
at speeds of up to 28.8kbps. This facilitates faster database searches, file and image
transfers as well as accurate Automatic Vehicle Location Systems (AVLS) amongst
others.

Supporting a wide range of Radio Frequency Distribution Systems (RFDS)

configurations, the MTS 4, a four-carrier base station, can be expanded to eight
carriers with one Rx/Tx antenna and supports hybrid, manual and auto tune cavity
combiners.

High Security. High Reliability.

For increased reliability, MTS 4 offers site controller and base radio (BR) redundancy.
For instance when a unit is unavailable, it auto- switches to a backup unit, whilst
retaining full trunking features after the switch over.

The MTS 4 comes equipped with a sophisticated inbuilt interference detection

and correction mechanism. The system automatically replaces the interfered Main
Control Channel (MCCH) in operation with a backup channel.

The MTS 4 also supports Satellite Transmission, allowing rapid deployment of the
base station in crisis situations, rural areas.
Designed for High Redundancy.

The MTS 4 has two E1 interfaces for easy ring configuration

to promote high redundancy. The use of the E1 ports provides
redundant connection in the event of failure, ensuring always-on
connectivity. It allows more stations to be added to a network
ring structure. A ring structure can support up to 10 base stations,
which allows the network traffic to be re-routed in the event of a
link or backhaul failure.
