From the introduction i read this book explain about the new approach of the local politic post
soeharto indonesia. New approach like understand the dinamics of this politic they propose to
investigate the nature and the role of regional elit,particularly in the fields of
bureaucratic,economic,and identity politic.that new approach is very interesting to know and
understand that there are still a new way to know how local politic in post soeharto even it have
so many contra and pro.
This book also the latest in growing series of studies providing snapshots of indonesia after
soeharte resignation of the presiden soeharto. Many other books more explain about
democratilization and other dealt with dinamic of decentralization.
The book also introduce the concept of the shadow state,which is used in indian and african
setting in order to indicate the vital connection between formal and informal arrangement that
charactize the regional economy.related to this themes are question regarding economy of

the more have plus value for the reader, the language also very understanding and educated. so
my opinion of the introduction of this book is the introduction already explain the main point of
this book and is very easy to feel the knowledge that the writer put in this book.
