CHAPTER 2.

The Nature of History: History as Reconstruction

History is the actions, thoughts, and memories of the past. It is all the events that was being recorded
through books and articles that was written by the people who had lived before. History is the entire
scope of the human experience on this world. And people mostly consider that past is just a past, and
live in the present then move on to the future. However history is very important.

It is a way of recreating the past so it can be studied in the present and re-interpreted for future
generations. The history teaches the people in the present, as the bases in the past. There are so many
changes and developments to the society. We don’t need to walk to arrive in our destination because a
vehicle can do it for us. Don’t need to read every pages of book because of data and internet. People
really improved a lot and a lot farther than before. People create a better world by doing it better than
those who came before us because we have already learned from them, we learn from the mistakes of
our ancestors. We do not notice that history helps us and plays an important in our lives.

History helps us in understanding what really happened in the world and around you before you were
born. It helps us to clearly see how the world became on what it is today. History is the effort to
reconstruct the past to discover what people thought, what they did, and how their beliefs and actions
continue to influence human life. In order to appreciate the past fully, we must put it into perspective so
that we can understand the factors that have helped to shape us as individuals, the society in which we
live, and the nature of other peoples' societies.
