Essay of the movie ratter

Ratter is a Drama-Thriller movie released in 2015 by producer Destination Films and Vertical
Entertainment. It is directed and written by Branden Kramer. It stars Ashley Benson and Matt
McGorry. The story begins in the city of Brooklyn (United States) with Emma Taylor (Ashley Benson),
a graduate student, who moves to start a new beginning after her recent breakup with her boyfriend
Alex. Already at the beginning of the movie you can see that Emma is being watched, because each
of the scenes that the viewer sees, are those that an anonymous character is viewing through their
devices, since the video console, mobile phone and computer laptop have been hacked and their
cameras become the eyes of the stalker. This film manages to show with mastery that any of us could
live a similar situation, that even today, it is almost impossible that there are people who do not have
any device that has internet connection and also have idealized the web as a infiltrable place that can
be trusted only because everyone you love is there. Due to the above, the cinematographic film raises
the question if we are taking the necessary measures with our network security, because otherwise,
someone would be watching you.

In the course of the film, it was almost inevitable to feel in the situation of the protagonist, usually
because most of them give the same importance to the cameras of the electronic devices as the
protagonist (I think it is not because of the video calls he made with his loved ones, she doesn't even
know about the existence of those tiny glasses). However, I think that if I were in the shoes of the
protagonist, at the end of the movie I would be on a scholarship and alive (Or at least not kidnapped).
Personally, I am very picky about my privacy and security in networks, to the point of being annoying
with any detail in which I perceive that there is a minimal possibility that my data or I, is at stake.
Because now nobody takes seriously that on the internet you are the product, and as it is, you have
to accept terms that are not at all helpful for you and conditions that ultimately end up being harmed.
The film shows us an extreme to raise awareness that it is possible that they may be watching you,
but not only in the digital world can a person directly spy on you, in applications it happens when you
accept without reading the fine print or on the web pages with cookies. You just have to be prepared,
block any invasion of your privacy either with rough measures that may be, such as putting black tape
on the cameras when you are not using them, buy a good antivirus (and other than those on offer),
keep well passwords and credit cards, use pages that have the lock, do not download things from
unsecured pages, always delete the complete history, do not open misleading offers, etc.

What would my life be like without the internet? I don't say it would be better, just that it would be
more complicated and without so much stress. The internet facilitates communication and makes the
arrival of all types of data more effective worldwide. On the internet, now we are more informed, we
have the information within reach of a click without having to travel great distances, as happened in
previous times. However, the benefits are not without its consequences. Having so much information
and not knowing how to handle it correctly, we saturate ourselves, causing us to ignore it completely
causing a sense of stress and dissatisfaction in the human being for not understanding what is
happening. There is also the effect of not having privacy in itself, seeing that large companies sell our
data without penalty, or that the web of the virtual world fades and harms reality, as happened with
Emma, are some of the reasons why I I question whether I should continue to devote much of my
time to the screen or redirect the purposes imposed on the internet so as not to hurt or disadvantage
the true gains that the internet brings.
