Name: Sendico, Kendra joy B.

How to Pass the Board Exam 101
Title of Seminar/Traning:

Date and Time: September 20, 2019, 4:00-5:30 Venue: En200

Name of Speaker: Engr. Perfecto Padilla Jr.

Lecture Engineers working in the field have their own pieces on how they prepared for the
Notes: engineering licensure exam. Every preparation is different depending on the background
and the ability to learn. How to pass the board or licensure exam? A question that is tricky
as passing or failing the test. Talking vaguely, if examinee comes prepared mentally,
emotionally and spiritually, majority will say "nothing to worry about". Just wait for the
announcement of results, with confidence that your name is included in the list of passers,
or if you're much luckier, also in the list of topnotchers.
Not everything you studied in review center comes out in the actual board exams,
that is why it is important that you have idea of everything. Always go back to your
foundations. Because the questions are purely basic, but too hard to comprehend.

REFLECTIONS: (Please answer the following questions, whenever applicable and as concise as possible.)
1. What particular field/s of specialization in Civil Engineering was the seminar or training about?

x Structural Engineering Transporation Engineering

Construction Management Geotechnical Engineering

Water Resources Engineering

2. Identify and describe some current trends or best practices

 In answering, eliminate first, the two obviously wrong choices so you can come up with 50% of
chance of getting the correct answer. In choosing between the two remaining answers always
choose the one that is completely related and closely related. (This applies when you don’t know
the topic) but the bottom line is. Always know the basic concept of the topic.
 Your brain is your primary weapon in this battle. Be sure that it is well fed. Supply your brain with
nutritious foods you eat and drink a lot of water to keep you hydrated. Don't forget to pray, it is
very powerful indeed.
3. Discuss the relevance or importance of civil engineering in the society as reflected in this
seminar/training.
 Passing the board exam isn't like winning in the lotto where you just bet for your favorite
numbers without taking so much effort. Preparation is always the key.
 Don't end the day without reading some of your notes. Keep on reading and reading... work
for it. Do that as your daily routine. Work for it as if everything depends on work and pray
harder as if everything depends on prayer. Remember 1% is your effort on reading and 99% is
prayer.
 Study hard but not too hard.

4. What is your most significant learning from this activity?

On the day of board exam, pray first. Be early in the testing site. Tone down your anxiety by smiling or
praying on your seat. Avoid unnecessary talks with people who releases their anxiety because anxiety
is contagious. Follow instructions. Be careful with your answer sheet. Read the question carefully as
much as possible read it louder where you can hear it, so the comprehension is better, but not loud
that it may disturb others. As much as possible, rationalize your answer, if unsure. Don't change your
first answer. (Especially if its a guess) Your first answer is an instinct, answer that your brain
remembers. Trust your instincts.
