NATIVE ANIMALS OF DEEP CREEK CONSERVATION PARK

Western Grey Kangaroo


• Finely haired muzzle that varies from light to dark brown fur
• Their paws, tail tips & fur vary in colours from brown to black
• Distinguishable from typical red kangaroos
• Herbivores that like to consume course grasses & some
shrubs

Short-beaked Echidnas
• Only species of echidna residing in Australia
• Distinguishable by its sharp spines, short legs &
snout
• Habitat includes forests, arid environments, grass
lands & heath (shrubland)
• Snacks on ant and termite nests by using their long &
sticky tongues
Southern Right Whale
• Medium to large baleen whales (no teeth)
• Distinguishable by white/grey growths on their
heads which is referred to as callosities
• Possess two blow holes to make breathing at the
ocean surface easier
• Between May & October, the whales can be seen
along the southern coastline
