Dear Families,

Welcome to Third Grade! I’m excited to get to know you

and be able to tackle the world of learning together!
This is my first year teaching third grade, well any
grade actually. I just graduated from South Dakota
State University and I’m excited to have my first year
be with this group of students here at Awesome
Elementary! Please feel free to call or email me if
you have questions or just want to talk. My phone
number at school is 507-111-2222 and my email is teacher@school.edu.
This year we will use a lot of our time on the computers since
there are many wonderful websites to help students learn. So, our
school supply list will be smaller than usual. However, we will still
do activities and learning without technology because some of it just
cannot be taught through a computer! Please make sure your child has
all the materials on the first day of school. If you would like
assistance with purchasing these supplies or have questions about the
items, send me an email and we will get everything sorted out!
Attached to this letter is a school supplies sheet.
To promote safety and avoid confusion at drop off/ pick up times,
make sure your child knows their daily routine of what time and where
to go to get on the bus (or other plans if you have them) and be sure
to include the bus number they will be riding home (or other ways they
are to get home safely.) A letter from the bus garage will be coming
in the mail sometime soon that includes which bus your child will be
riding.
Today for our first day of school we got to know one another by
telling the class our names, how old we are, what we want to be when
we grow up, and our favorite food. It was wonderful to be able to put
faces to names and learn more about each and every one of them.
Tonight, I would like for you and your child to look around your house
for a book that both of you enjoy. Then write the title and author at
the bottom of the page. The book that you and your child pick should
be read at least twice a week for bonding time and also to work on
your child’s reading skills! Please keep this letter but return the
bottom of the page to school tomorrow!
I look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Barnes
