    Search Strategy

    A search was conducted on databases, such as PubMed, Cochrane, EBSCO, ProQuest, Google
    Scholar, as well as manual search. Nineteen articles were found using keywords “diabetes,
    gestational” and “hyperuricemia”. Two duplicate articles were removed, leaving 17 articles.
    Ten were removed after review. Reasons for exclusion included non-cohort study design, non-
    pregnant subjects, non-specific hyperuricemia, non-gestational diabetes, and out of scope of
    review. Full text reports of 7 articles are examined independently by authors and were extracted
    and tabulated, using a custom-designed data extraction form.
