Dear Speaker Hortman,

Thank you for your letter earlier today. I share the goal of making a divided government work for every Minnesotan.
At the end of last session, I committed to working together to bring down the cost of insulin. Many legislators have
taken great efforts to address the needs of diabetics in Minnesota. We all agree that not one more Minnesotan should
die because they can't afford their insulin.

We've already made great strides to limit companies from profiting offthe sales of insulin, and we've seen costs for
most Minnesotans go down in response to Federal, State, and market demands. As we continue to help those who are
uninsured or underinsured, Senator Eric Pratt, Senator Michelle Benson, and Senator Melissa Wicklund will serve on
the informal working group with the House appointees and the executive branch.

In addition to making my appointments public in your letter, you also suggested a report on their progress after 60
days. We've heard many times that those with Type 1 diabetes feel as though they are on the edge of crisis- just one
missed paycheck, an unexpected blood sugar reading, even a small emergency could mean they are rationing or even
skipping their insulin doses to make ends meet.

Therefore, instead of 60 days, I propose requiring a bi-partisan solution after 30 days. You are correct that time is of
the essence lives are on the line, and there is no reason we should delay any longer. Let's get this done.
