Mariam - Emotions Revisit

Learning Priority: children explore and learn about identity as a Muslim kiwi, confidence and
develop languages
Last few months, Mariam, you have been learning about emotions
and how to express them appropriately. We had a mat time about
emotions. We looked at different emotions and learning the name in
English and Arabic to make sure you understand the meaning of
each emotions. We sang a song about emotions, “If you’re happy and
you know it”. We sang about different emotions and how to show
them when we feel a certain way. We read a book called, when I'm
feeling sad. You enjoyed the book because you can relate to the
previous book you read about feeling angry.

We went outside and drew pictures of emotions. You were telling me

that Ariam was sad, while showing me the sad face you drew.
When we were playing doctors, you use a thermometer under my
armpit. Then you realised on the thermometer, there was a sad face
and a happy face. You told me that I was sick and showed me the
sad face on the thermometer. You pretend to give me medicine and
tried using the thermometer again. This time, you spinned it to a
happy face. “You are all better now, Teacher Nur!”, you said while
showing me a happy face on the thermometer. You were a good
doctor, Mariam.

Masha Allah Mariam. You were able to tell the different emotions and
manage to express them appropriately. You are now more confidence
to communicate your feelings and understanding what others feel
(developing your empathy). InsyaAllah, we will learn about how we as
Muslim, manage our emotions and help you to develop and identify
more emotional development.
