 Attempt the given problem set in a sequential order. Show all the design steps.
 Make an index showing summary of the problems solved with page numbers and
also specify the missing ones.
 No late submissions will be accepted unless a prior approval from the teacher is
obtained with extremely genuine reasons. The assignments submitted after the
due date/time will be graded zero.
 University has zero tolerance for plagiarism and serious penalties apply. All
assignments found mutually copied will be marked zero.
 The students will submit a certificate with the assignment work stating the
originality of their efforts and no copying from others.
 Five marks are reserved for neat and clean work, table of contents, and
certificate to be attached with the assignment work.

Problem No-1 Convert the following numbers from the given base to the indicated bases in
the table:

Problem No-2 The following calculation was performed by a particular breed of unusually
intelligent chicken. If the radix r used by the chicken corresponds to itstotal
number of toes, how many toes does the chicken have on each foot?
((34)r+(24)r)x(21)r=(1460)r
Problem No-3 Given the two unsigned numbers X=1101.04038 and Y=3C.A16, perform
subtraction X-Y using 2’s complement method. Convert the answer to
decimal.
Problem No-4 Perform the subtraction A-B on the following signed binary numbers using 1’s
complement method.
A=10101010.012; B=0101111.12
Express the result in 12-bit Signed-magnitude, Signed-1’s complement and
signed-2’s complement form.
Problem No-5 Decode the following 16 bits register as (a) ASCII code, (b) BCD, (c) 2421
and (d) Binary value. Also mention the type of parity used in ASCII codes
1001 0110 0111 0001
