Chapter 1 : New Year, New You

Class : 1 Amanah

Number of students : 30 students

Unit 1 Topic 1 New Year, New You

Students will be taught to :


Learning Objectives
 Pick their New Year resolution.
 Learn about common nouns and proper nouns.

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to :


Learning Outcomes
 Speak about their New Year resolutions.
 Identify and use common nouns and proper nouns appropriately .

Previous Knowledge They learned basic nouns in Primary School


Teaching & Learning Resources Textbook, worksheets, Manila cards, whiteboard and whiteboard marker.

Induction Stage (5 mins)  Teacher greet the students.


 Teacher give a little preview of the subject that she/he will teach on that day.

 Teacher explains to them what is New Year resolutions.


Step 1 (Explore)  Teacher ask students what is their New Year resolutions in general.
 Teacher also explain what is common nouns and proper nouns.

Rationale: To see if they able to give thier resolutions and goals in given time.

 Teacher starts to explain the importance of New Year resolutions.


 Teacher will ask the students to write their New Year resolutions in groups using Manila cards.
Step 2 (Explain)  Teacher will ask students to identify a common nouns and proper nouns in their resolutions.
 Each group will present their New Year resolutions and the list of common nouns and proper
nouns.

Rationale: To check their understanding in common nouns and proper nouns.

Step 3 (Elaborate)  Teacher will give them worksheet for them to do at class and discuss it together.

Rationale: This is to make them recall what they learn in class.

Closure  Teacher asks what did they learn today


 Teacher summarized the topic that they have learned in class
 Teacher also ask them to read the next topic so that they can imagine what their next topic will
be
