Andi Rina Ayu Astuti, et al. 2016. “Bio-Nano Surflight”: Detergent-based

Nanotechnology from Moringa Leaves (Moringa oleifera) and Papaya Leaves
(Carica papaya)

Detergent is a cleani
ng product that is widely used by the people of Indonesia. The components
of the detergent are generally a dangerous active ingredients such as surfactants
Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (ABS) and Linear Alkyl Sulfonate (LAS). The
components can cause a negative impact to living beings and the environment
because it is difficult broken down by microorganisms. The use of natural
detergents that contain saponin as lifting dirt, protease enzyme as a protein stain
remover and lipase enzyme as a grease stain remover are an alternative effective
detergent and environmentally.
The potential plants as a natural detergent are moringa leaves and papaya
leaves. Moringa leaves contain saponins is 14.92% and lipase enzyme activity in
papaya leaves is 0.1 U / ml. In addition, there is the content of complementary
natural detergent is protease enzymes in moringa leaves. Development of Moringa
leaves and papaya laves-based nanotechnology is expected to be effective
detergent (surf) to clean the stain as soon as the movement of light (light) that is
named "Bio-Nano Surflight".
This study aims to determine how to manufacture and natural detergent
effectiveness of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) and papaya leaves (Carica
papaya). It also determine the efficient level of detergency treatment of
nanotechnology to "Bio-Nano Surflight". Working procedures used in this
research is using sonication and freeze drying which is able to change the
detergent particles into nano size. To make this natural detergent formulations
using completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors. The treatments are
moringa leaves with 20%, 30%, 40% and papaya with 20%, 30%, 40%. Parameter
Bio-Nano Surflight research is to test the saponin levels in the sample, detergency
test, level of contamination (COD) test and particle size test using SEM (Scanning
Electron Microscopy).
