The MI connector must engage the girder so the end of the girder is between the
connector weld and first hole or slot (see picture 1 above). The bolts should be
located in the holes closest to the connector base as possible, but with a minimum
of 1" from the girder end. Connectors with two bolts should position the bolts
perpendicular to each other.

3. HILTI PLUG-IN FOR SMART 3D
Three key points summarizing the content of Hilti plug-in for Smart 3D
(for both piping and cable trays):

1. Five of the most common MI (Smart) Assemblies are readily available via this
plug-in to be used, and do not need to be assembled from scratch. These
include:

Wall to wall connection (concrete only)

(In development for North America)
Cantilever for steel and concrete
L shape for steel and concrete
T post for steel and concrete
U shape / Goal post for steel and concrete

Wall to wall (concrete)

Cantilever Wall to wall T post

L post U shape Goal Post

3. HILTI PLUG-IN FOR SMART 3D

2. The channel connecting Cable Trays to MI, on Cable Tray Assemblies must be
placed using “Place by part” and will be automatically available by April 2017.

3. Similar MQ Smart Assemblies are also available, but the North American
strut (HS) is currently not a default option. The Assemblies come with MQ
which needs to be manually changed to HS. This option will be available in
September 2017. A step by step tutorial is available for this topic.
