Splash! Math
I have created an online Splash math
classroom to facilitate student learning &
track progress. Login information is in
each child’s homework folder. Math
games on this site are geared to state
standards and support skills we are
practicing in class, from adding fractions
to relating word problems to equations.
ADDING FRACTIONS EXAMPLE
This game supports students’ addition of
fractions and makes connections between
parts and the whole with number lines and
interactive visuals.
Fraction App
This site,
https://apps.mathlearningcenter.org
/fractions/, allows students to explore
different fractions. By creating and
manipulating their own representations,
students can gain a better understanding
of how fractions relate to each other and
to decimals, percentages, and whole
numbers. This site allows for
manipulation into many parts, as well as
the creation of equations with visual
depictions of fractions.
This tool is a great aid when used to
support other fraction homework
problems if students want to clearly
visualize a fraction or equivalency.
Our current math unit focuses
on fractions. By integrating
technology into students’
nightly math homework, I
hope to provide students with an
interactive way to practice skills
we are learning in class while
working at their own pace.
Technology allows for
additional supports, from
varying difficulty levels, guided
exploration, and visual aids,
which can help every child
succeed in math.
Math goals in fourth grade
focus on algebraic thinking,
measurement, place value,
fractions, data representation,
and geometry.
