CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

This chapter includes the Background of the Study, Review of Related Literature, Statement

of the Problem, Significance of the Study, and Scope and Delimitation.

Background of the Study

The researchers conduct a study about the performance of the selected Grade 10 of Jesus

Dela Peña National High School in their P.E. class in relation to their BMI status.

In performing P.E one must be determined and physically ready to adhere the basic to

medium exercises or practices, teens or not can be involved in P.E not just in class or just to do

physical or recreational activities. But in our study our main direct target are the grade 10 students

of Jesus Dela Peña National High School in relation of their BMI in their performance in their P.E

class. we’ve been interested in this topic since we have some or seen other students who excel in

P.E despite of them being underweight/overweight we want to know how can this people perform

well than those who are perfectly normal and also since their BMI is related in this topic it can also

be a idea for some new P.E teachers (or for some old teachers that want to make some changes) to

know what to perfectly let teach the students with physical activity which they can all perform together

or relate too, so no one can be left behind since it’s not convenient or healthy for them.

Review of Related Literature

“Physical Education is "education through the physical". It aims to develop students’ physical

competence and knowledge of movement and safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a

wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle. It also

develops students’ confidence and generic skills, especially those of collaboration, communication,

creativity, critical thinking and aesthetic appreciation. These, together with the nurturing of positive

values and attitudes in PE, provide a good foundation for students’ lifelong and life-wide learning

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to develop physical students’ ability to use these to perform well in P.E.

class in relation to their BMI status. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. Is the BMI status can affect the performance of the selected Grade 10 students to perform

well in their P.E. class?

Significance of the Study

The researchers believe that the research findings are beneficial to the following:

To the adolescents/teenagers, this research study can help the students …

To the teachers, this can help the teachers give …

To the parents, this study could help them …

To future researchers, this research paper could use this as reference...
