CHAPTER 1

INDTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF STUDY

An internet services most commonly computer rental most for a fee, usually per
hour or a minute, according to (NETCAFE Web site, 2017) Internet services system is a
client-server software, it allows you to control client’s pc from one single computer,
monitor client’s activities in real-time, calculate the payments and much more. OMSC
Library San Jose campus offer a better service with its internet services with database and
QR code system. Internet services started out in the late 1990s as LAN a center in which
computers are networked in order to use pc units. Establishing internet services needs
determination of the following important factors such as computer hardware, computer
software, and people ware, its provide communities with the ability to access the Internet
and share Internet experiences.

At present, it has been utilizing the use of computer-aided systems which assists
in facilitating and achieving its target of speedy transaction during the students use
internet which benefited both students and the school. Nonetheless, the current library
internet services system still gives too much inconvenience on the part of the students.
Difficulty on monitoring limited internet access of students per semester. Having to pile
up for so long in each process during logging in and logging out server it’s consume too
much time of the students and proves to be very tiring on the part of the users.
In this system, the internet librarian are the respondents. The respondents are
given a chance to evaluate the operational concerns as well as the time and monitor the
system of the internet services including whether they have applied appropriate internal
controls in their operations. In addition, respondents are also asked to assess the problems
encountered and the proposed solution there to monitor the computers that are used.
These are the reasons why the researchers are proposing to develop a computerized
internet services with database and QR code system. The proposed system will provide
an accurate timer for sessions and proper monitoring to safeguard computers from
unauthorized use.

ii
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

The proposed system aims to develop an internet services with database and QR
code system to aid the college librarian (San, Jose Campus) regarding timer and
monitoring needs.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

Specifically, this project aims to:

1. To provide an accurate computerized timer for every user.

2. Provide security from unauthorized use of computers.

3. Provide a bandwidth limiter option to monitor and control the amount of

bandwidth used by the users and to balance bandwidth usage between pc
units.

4. Remotely monitor and control all client computers from a server to

properly manage internet services.

Significance of the Study

The components developed the DEVELOPMENT OF LIBRARY INTERNET

SERVICING SYSTEM FOR USING QUICK RESPONSE CODE (QR) FOR SAN JOSE

CAMPUS will be of great benefit to the following:

SCHOOL. The study entitled development of library internet servicing

system for using quick response code (QR) for San Jose campus will help the
school by giving quality services through faster and convenient for the students.

STUDENTS. The students shall have the opportunity to ease and reduce
the time of their library internet transaction. It will also increase their awareness
of the evolution of new and modern information technology we have now.

LIBRARIAN/CUSTODIAN. The same is true for the library

personnel. through implementation of library internet servicing system for using
quick response code System, its net and effect is more productive for its personnel
and lesser there workload. Furthermore, it will provide an accurate, user friendly
and proficient usage to assist both the students and Teachers for faster data
processing, storage, security and convenient access.
RESEARCHERS. The outcome of the study is benefit to present and

future researchers. This study may be one of the basis or can be a guide to a new

innovation of internet services.

v
Objective of the Study

General Objective

The proposed system is generally created to develop an internet servicing system

for using quick response code (QR) for Occidental Mindoro State College San Jose
Campus that will help the library’s lack of manpower, file handling and other documents.

Specific Objectives

Specifically, the researchers aimed to meet the following objectives:

o To enhance and make the internet services easier and faster.

o To encourage the students from using libraries.

o To lessen the time consumed of the students such as registration and any
related internet services needed by the students while using system unit.

o To lessen manpower workloads.

o To understand the existing system through interviews and observations.

o To show the advantages of Quick Response(QR) code, both for teacher’s

and students’.

o To evaluate the performance of the developed system.

o To improve the developed system.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter presents the review of related literature and studies, educational benefits of

Library through Internet Services, its advantages functionality.

Development of library internet servicing system for using quick response code (qr)

For San Jose campus

According to Anjana Bhatnagar The Due to the tremendous growth and continuous

development of library, the role of library becomes more responsive in making the users techno-

savvy. Technological developments have affected not only the format and source of the information,

but also how the where to provide library services. Libraries and their resources have partially

moved to the virtual world of the Internet. As a result, library users can access the resources from

outside the physical library. In an effort to reach users accessing the library via their computers,

many libraries and library consortia are extending their services to the virtual references. Technology

now allows users to submit their queries to the library at any time from any place in world. Web

Based Services, Digital library Services, Internet Library Services and Electronic Library Services

are terms with similar meanings.

As more libraries move towards providing services in a digital environment, the improved

access to remote library collections is making the use of electronic information resources more

realistic and more attractive. Traditional online services had transformed themselves into internet-

based online services using web-based technologies.

From traditional online services to today, four generations of information retrieval tools have

passed that assist users in searching the World Wide Web.

vii
The first generation of information retrieval tools was designed for use with bibliographic

databases. The first generation provided access to references to the end documents rather than to the

documents themselves, and indexing and searching were thus applied the documents surrogates,

such as titles or abstract. These tools require considerable human efforts to collect, arrange, code,

and annotate the various recourse. A primary benefit of the first generation of tools is providing

users with easy browsing capabilities.

The second generation of tools attempts to collect and index resources as an automated

function. Automatic collection and indexing reduces the amount of human effort. To ability to search

through massive amounts of information and located the desired information for the users is the

primary benefit of the second generation of tools. The third generation deals with World Wide Meta

search engines,

The fourth generation involves new ideas such as search agent technology currently being

developed to search for information on the web.

Web-based search engines are as a means of finding relevant pages on the Internet. Different

search engines, directory, meta search engines, gateway, subject portals, electronic journals and on

line databases each type could be used in a different way, from simple keyword searching up to peer

reviewed web site.

Scope and Limitation

This study entitles development of library internet servicing system for using
quick response code (QR) for San Jose campus, will cover only the colleges in the
Occidental Mindoro State College San Jose campus. This study primarily gives
importance and focus on the internet services that the student encounter during used of
internet library.

Moreover, this study focuses on the design, creation, testing, and improvement of

the Internet Services of Library. The system was developed for the students, teachers who

are always using the internet in the library. the proposed system has the limitations as to

the transaction it servers to its user. It will only be concern as to applying library account

to monitor the time use by the students and the current time balance used by the student

per semester.

The proposed system concerns for better, advanced and well-developed versions
of the existing system where identified problems will be solved. For example, it will
solve and settle the long hours/time of waiting during the logging-in period. The target
respondents for this study are the students and library staffs.

This also intentionally made not only to change and replace the existing system
but also to improve and enhance the current conditions of the internet services.

Operational Definition of Terms

This section provides the conceptual and operational definition of terms which is

a great help to understand the study.
