Middle School Social Studies Introduction Letter

Parents and students,

Hello, my name is Mr. Stoos and I am pleased to introduce myself as your 2019/2020

Social Studies teacher. While this year will be my first experience teaching in a Middle School

setting, I have an extensive background in training young adults in the military, police, and

college sectors. In the past I have served our country on many world-wide fronts, however, I

want you to know that I view the task of preparing our young minds for the real world through

the lens of social studies and civics as be my most important mission tasking to date.

Throughout the school year, I will be pushing your child to perform at their maximum potential

and will additionally be grooming them for real world scenarios they will face upon graduation.

Some important classroom procedures I will be stressing to the students throughout the

year are academic maturity, self-discipline, and professional behavior with colleagues and

authority figures. To accomplish this, my classroom format and style will mimic the type of

learning environment the student will face in the college and corporate environment to include

the expectation of proper classroom comportment, self-directed outside studies, and respect for

others. As well, remarkable deviations from these expectations can and will result in

consequences depending on the severity to include; verbal/written warning, personal counseling,

and lastly the intervention of parents and administration. Lastly, I would like to mention that I

like to give students a physical option for self-correction which could involve after class push-

ups, sit-ups, or running (which I would be completing beside them).

Thank you for your time and let me say that I view this opportunity to help mold our

students into productive members of society as an honor I take very seriously. I can be reached

anytime via the email, phone, or office hours listed below.

Very Respectfully,

Mr. Jeff Stoos
