Course Objectives:
In Algebra 1-2, students will:
 Review and apply math reasoning and algebraic skills from previous courses and
apply their knowledge to more advanced and specific math tasks.
 Meet grade level and state performance requirements.
 Learn and apply skills using function notation and develop concepts of domain and
range.
 Use linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, including sequences, absolute value,
step and piecewise-defined functions; interpreting functions given graphically,
numerically, symbolically, and verbally;
 Translates between representations; and understands the limitations of various
representations.
 Build on and extend their understanding of integer exponents to consider
exponential functions.
 Compare the key characteristics of quadratic functions to those of linear and
exponential functions.
 Identify the real solutions of those functions.
 Demonstrate function development to analyze and interpret intercepts, vertices,
extreme, and limitations on domain and range of quadratic functions.
 Use techniques to find and interpret the parameters and determine how they relate
and differ in the various models.
 Use multiple strategies for solving quadratics.
 Demonstrate collaborative discussion/listening skills in a variety of settings, both
formal and informal in the classroom to reinforce skills set.
 Students will extend speaking and listening skills to include paraphrasing, math
terms and language.
Course Guidelines:
In the interest of developing a positive learning environment that will facilitate the BEST
possible education for you and your peers, all students are expected to be TRUSTWORTHY, to

students will receive reminders for homework, assignment due dates, and tests or
quizzes. The remind App will replace the weekly email reminders that we have used in
prior years.
Attendance and Absences
Students are expected to be in class and on time every day. All students must be
seated in the classroom and prepared to learn when class begins. Each tardy or
unexcused absence will result in missing points for the daily assignments recorded
in the grade book that day. Students may get daily handouts and notes in the class
folders and on the class website.
