Experiment No.

107: Latent Heat of Fusion

Mechanical Engineering-1

Introduction
The Latent Heat of Fusion is the experiment No. 107. Heat is a transfer of energy from one
body to another. Latent Heat of Fusion is the change of its enthalpy as a result of the giving of
specific amount energy to make the state of the object change. The group was told to do the
same as the last experiment, using the law of the heat exchange, to know the Latent Heat of
Fusion of ice.

Results and Discussion

The first thing that the group did was to find the value that they were aiming for them to
have a low percentage error. The setup was already done because the same setup was used
before this experiment. The same error that was happening in doing this experiment, but
another error was the water used. The temperature of the water used was already hot and
the amount of water that the group used was too much. In doing the experiment the group
found out that the when you put the ice the temperature rises but when the ice melts the
temperature becomes constant until the ice completely melts.

Conclusion
Overall the experiment went well for the group as they found Latent Heat of Fusion of the
ice.
