Preface.
This report aims to illustrate Egyptian position on the global competitiveness report.

Overall position.
Egypt ranked the 94th most competitive nation in the world out of 140 nations. Competitiveness Rank
for Egypt reached an all-time high of 119 in 2015 and a record low of 70 in 2010, Egypt ranked the 9th
most competitive nation out of 40 African nations and ranked the 12th out of 14 Arab nations.

Egypt has seen improvements in institutions, infrastructure, ICT adoption, Health, Skills, labor market,
market size, business dynamism, and innovation capability pillars.

Egypt’s most problematic factors for business were listed as inflation, efficiency of custom clearance
process, financing of SME’s, Terrorism incidence, Budget transparency, Freedom of the press,
intellectual property protection, Conflict of interest regulation, Skillset of graduates, Ease of finding
skilled employees, and Trade tariffs.
