SCHOOL LAC SESSION ON RPMS TOOLS AND COT-RPMS

August 11 and , 2018
1st Saturday

Venue: Grade III-Camia Classroom

Participants: Nagrumbuan Elementary School Main and Annex teaching staff headed by the
school principal.

The LAC session was called to order at exactly 1:00 in the afternoon. The session
started with a prayer from Mrs Desiree D. Alonzo and a simple message from the school head,
Mrs. Dolores M. Angeles regarding the purpose of the LAC session. Mrs. Rhodora Zambrano,
the Master Teacher II of the school manage the session.

DOLORES M. ANGELES: Preliminary Provisions on Anti-Bullying Policies:

 The different preparatory activities of anti-bullying and child protection policy was
clearly discussed by Mrs. Dolores M. Angeles.
 There should be a child protection committee in the school that will handle issues
and concern regarding child protection and anti-bullying incidents. The committee
should include a teacher representative, a pupil representative, barangay
representative.
 The role of the different members of the committee was clearly emphasized.

RHODORA S. ZAMBRANO: Forms of Bullying; Issues and Challenges

 The different forms of bullying was discussed comprehensively by Mrs. Rhodora
S. Zambrano.
 A video presentation about bullying activity was presented
 After the video presentation, participants were asked if they had encountered any
kind of bullying in their classroom or in the school premises.
 The guidance counselor of the school, Mrs. Nerissa G. Maniego reported to the
group that there were pupils that was brought to her but it was only simple form of
bullying that was settled right away.
 The speaker gave an activity by letting each teacher write a bullying incident they
had encountered inside their classroom.

RHODORA S. ZAMBRANO: Disciplinary Measures in the Different Forms of

Bullying/Best Practice
 Mrs. Rhodora S. Zambrano presented the summary of the different bullying
incidents encountered by each teacher in their classroom such as the following:
 Calling the name of the pupil differently like instead of calling her
Christine, she will be called tabachoy or negro
 Laughing at the mistake of their classmates
 Changing the name of the pupil with the alyas of their parent or with an
animal’s name
 Teasing a child resulting to hurting each other

 She asked the participant to share their best practices to address the issues presented
like;
 Calling the parents of the involved individuals
 Talking to each child and explain the bad effect and consequences of
what they have done
 Home visitation

ROSALIE S. PADUA: Anti-Bullying Policies/Formulation of School Based Child

Protection and Issues Encountered.

 Mrs. Rosalie Padua presented the Child Protection and Anti-Bullying Policy.
 Teachers, parents and students should be aware of the policy.
 She reiterated the role of the different members of the Child Protection Committee
 She presented some activities like:
 Information dissemination during GPTA and HRPTA meetings.
 Providing parents with Child Protection Policy Manual
 Encouraging stakeholders’ participation by inviting them to give lectures in the
school.

NERISSA G. MANIEGO: Signs and Symptoms

 Being aware of the different signs and symptoms of an abused individual was the
topic of Mrs. Nerissa G. Maniego.
 She presented a video presentation regarding her topic.
 After watching, participants were asked to give suggestions on how to solve a
problem of child abuse.
 She also mentioned the role of the teacher, the school head and the parent to solve
such issue.

RUTH L. GAMBOA: Procedures in Handling Bullying Incidents

 Mrs. Ruth L. Gamboa discussed the procedures in handling bullying incidents.
 Any bullying incidents happened in the school should follow a step by step process.
 Bullying incidents should be resolved first inside the classroom

PATRICIO G. ZAMBRANO: Prevention/Recommendation in Terms of

Strengthening the Implementation of the Child Protection Policy

 Mr. Patricio G. Zambrano suggested some prevention regarding child abuse like
 Always remind the pupils about the policy
 If you are angry, better get out of the room
 Treat your pupils as your own child
 He also presented some recommendation to strengthen the implementation on the
policy such as:
 Read and be aware of the Child Protection Policy because this will
protect the teacher from committing such activity.
 Have a monthly information and dissemination campaign
 Request a knowledgeable speaker regarding child protection to conduct
lecture in the intermediate level.
 Have a slogan/poster/essay contest in the school
 Make a signage in the school premises.
