High Bulk Acrylic Crochet Yarn (Tkt. No.8)
Single Hook #2

Instruction:
let's roll! grab your hook and some yarn and here we GO.

chain 6

and then make a ring: simply slip stitch in the first stitch of your chain. the one on the bottom.
insert your hook like i did.

after forming the ring: chain 4 (that is actually COUNTED as 1 double crochet followed by 1 single
crochet).
we are going to make the first round of the flower. for this we are going to work INTO the ring.
that means as much as simply put your hook in the center of your ring. INTO the ring. yes. it's that
simple. so yarn over,

and put your hook INTO the ring, like i did in the picture above. you maybe need to turn your
screen to the left, cause i didn't rotate this picture. but with your uber-imagination-skills that
won't be a problem, right?! yarn over again, and finish the double crochet.

after each double crochet (into the ring) you follow with 1 chain.
\
going round and round
in total you make sure you'll have 12 double crochets (DO COUNT the first chain 4 as 1 double
crochet!).

when you have 12 double crochets (please count!!), then attach with a slip stitch on the top of
your first double crochet (so that's actually the chain 4 (=COUNT AS a double crochet + 1 single
crochet). still following me?

it looks like this. the first always has a bigger space. but just wiggle with your fingers, so the
spaces are equally divided.
Next round. start with chain 5 (and this counts also as a first double crochet followed by 2 single
crochets).

now this is going to be tricky to explain. you are going to make double crochets in the open spaces
you just made in your first round. but remember: it's a double crochet, so yarn over first.
keep following with: double crochet, chain 2 in the next open space, double crochet, chain 2 in the
next open space. and on and on and on.

when you continue this around, make sure you have 12 open spaces (or double crochets).
remember: you can first make flowers in 1 color. if you are ready: go ahead, change colors. circus,
happy! insert your hook into the top of the chain 3 you made in the beginning of this round. if you
use 1 color finish the slip stitch, but if you want to use another color, than finish the slip stitch
with the next color.

always finish the LAST stitch with the NEW color, like the picture above shows. i simply cut off the
yellow (leave enough yarn to work in the end later on!

Round 3: chain 3
okay, continuing round 3. you made your chain 3, then follow it with 3 double crochets in the open
space or "first loop" as the pro-crocheters call it... (the chain 3 is counted as a first double
crochet, so actually you've 4 double crochets here).
and this round 3 is continued the same way: keep making 4 double crochets in the open spaces or
"loops" all the way around.

tadieda. this looks kinda rad, now doesn't it?? if you want to use a single color, slip stitch in the top
of the chain 3 you made in the beginning of this round. if you want to change color here (like i
did), you insert your hook to make a slip stitch...

... but before ending your slip stitch, add the new color, and finish that last stitch with the new
color.
Round 4: we are going to make petals. that's so nice. start with chain 5.

then SKIP 2 stitches and attach that chain 5 into the next stitch with a slip stitch.

like in the picture above. you can see clearly i skipped 2 stitches.
then slip stitch in the next stitch...
... and follow with a chain 5 again.
in this picture i tried to show you the 2 stitches you need to skip.
now keep doing this around and around and around. if you are at the end (or reaching the
beginning, just how you see it), you make sure you have 16 blue loops. if not, you are simply
skipping to many stitches, if you have more, you skip to little. it's all about counting and counting
and counting as you go.
to attach this round, i make a slip stitch on the beginning where you started your first chain 5.

round 5: next: making the real petals. this is the last round and makes your flower oh so pretty!
you are going to make 8 double crochets in every blue loop.

8 double crochets done in the picture above.

now you need to attach it on the previous round (for me, that's the orange) and make a slip stitch
where you made the slip stitch the first time around. i pointed my hook into the direction / area i
mean. i hope you follow me. if not, grab some chocolate and all will be okay. anyway: just try to
attach it so that it looks ok to you. it most probably IS OKAY then.
woohooo you MADE IT. you only need to attach it with a slip stitch on the first single crochet and
this is it!
