Concierge - Learn the Fretboard 2.

0
Week 4

Welcome to Concierge, your weekly practice program for mastering each of the courses
in the JazzGuitarLessons.net curriculum!

This is the fourth of six weeks guiding you step-by-step through the course. In each
week, you’ll cover a portion of the lessons in the course. As the weeks progress, you’ll find
yourself getting familiar with more angles and perspectives on the fretboard!

This week covers Section 4 of Learn the Fretboard 2.0, where you’ll finally tackle playing
major scales in different keys! You’ll learn the significance of sharp and flat notes, and how they
work to “adjust” the natural notes to preserve the whole-step / half-step relationship between
notes that we need to produce a major scale sound.

Practice each lesson in the following outline until you’re confident in it. Generally, this
means being able to play with Marc in the lesson video in time. Additionally, the instructions
require you to play in keys not originally covered in the course, by yourself. Take your time
figuring it out - you’ve got this!

At the end of the week, you’ll receive an email asking if you’re ready to move on or if
you’d like to repeat the week again. Do your best and practice consistently!

This week’s program

Here’s your workout for the week:
● Watch Lesson 25 to understand how playing a major scale starting on a note other than
C requires you to include some sharps or some flats in order to preserve the
WWhWWWh-step shape of the major scale.
● Practice through Lessons 26 to 29 with your instructor in order to gain some experience
on playing in the keys of G, D, F, and Bb on specific strings.
● By yourself, practice in the keys Eb (3 flats) and A (3 sharps). Use the entry for Lesson
25 in the exercise sheet if you need help figuring out which notes need to be sharpened
or flattened.
