use, the skills and talents of Filipino IT experts have been viewed to be competitive.
Philippines are not behind in terms of quality, cost and availability of skilled IT workers in
Asia, making Filipinos very much in demand in many parts of the world.
However, we also cannot deny the fact that internet accessibility is one of the
problem especially in remote areas. Rural areas don't have cell sites and internet
connectivity unlike some other countries, well maybe it's just a matter of time, somehow
it's improving as government is implementing ICT since it become and will continue to be
an integral part in our day to day life of every Filipino across all levels of our society.
Information has always played vital role in our history, we have used ICT to improved our
way of life. The ICT, most specifically the Internet, has altered the ways people around
telecommunications, computer systems and electricity. The quality of our country’s ICT
infrastructure is unfortunately lower and far more expensive compared to other countries.
The local cost of our internet access remains costly, yet in terms of internet connectivity
and broadband speed, our country ranking lags at 3.7 mbps, compared to the global
average of 24.2 mbps. The relatively weak uptake of ICT services in the Philippines, aside
from inadequate ICT infrastructure, can be attributed to relative high cost associated with
it.
Government and the private sector need to work together toward ensuring that the
