EVIDENCE: LIFE FROM A WHEELCHAIR

 What does Ashley do for a living?

Ashely is a university student from north of lowa where she studies communication with a
disability, Despite the difficulties, she saw that it was an opportunity to grow in her
studies.

 How does her condition affect her daily activities and how does she deal with it?

She says that thanks to her parents she learned a lot to do her daily activities alone. If she
had not had the support of her parents, she would not have learned to do her activities
and have so much will, the only thing is that she feels difficult days but she adapted very
well and decided to continue studying and achieve her dreams, but if she had not adapted
everything would have been more difficult.

What is her attitude towards life? Does she feel disabled from certain activities?

she thinks that things can do them, it is only with time and adapts to them although she
knows that there are activities that she really cannot do but she wishes she could do them
she assures that the disease is not an impediment to being a normal girl.

 How would your life be different if you were handicapped and had to use a wheelchair? What
would be different for you? (Use mixed conditionals in the answer).

If I were disabled and used a wheelchair, I could not skate as I like

If I were always in wheelchairs, I would not have joined the football team.
If I had been disabled, I would not have my son now.

How do you react when you have to interact with a handicapped person?

I think that a disabled person has twice as many skills as me, because he must deal with
his daily activities, despite the difficulties, they must adapt to them, so they seem to me to
be people like me.
How can you contribute to improve the life of handicapped people?

I can contribute to people with disabilities by turning my turn, interact more with them,
since they just want to be treated like everyone else, include them in all kinds of activity
by making them adapt to them.
