GIST
► Bank Officers are sometimes required to attend Branch/Office on a Sunday
and Holiday due to exigencies of Bank’s work.

► If Officers are called upon by Bank to attend Branch/Office on Sunday/

Holiday, then one Compensatory day Off in the following week, or latest
within the next fortnight, shall be allowed to them by the
Appropriate Authority.

► The existing provision of reimbursement of Diem Allowance for attending to

Bank’s exigencies on Sundays/Holidays shall be discontinued, except in
certain specific cases where Diem Allowance is permitted to officers as
stated in point No. 5, 6, 7, 8 of this Circular letter.

► In such specific case where Diem is allowed to an officer as per rules, the
provision of Compensatory Off shall not be applicable.

► The provision of Compensatory Off to officers is effective from 19-05-2012

Bank adheres to the policy of providing Weekly Off and holiday to all employees
as per Govt. Notifications. However, sometimes, due to exigencies of Bank’s
work, Officers are required to attend branches/Offices even on Sundays and
Holidays.

Presently in our Bank, there is no provision for allowing compensatory off to

officers who are required to attend Branch/Office on Sundays and Holidays.
However, reimbursement of lump sum amount is paid towards conveyance
and Tiffin expenses to an officer who is required to attend branches/offices for
official work on Sundays/holidays, restricting it to a maximum of one Diem.
In the light of the changing needs and health concerns of officers, the Board of
Directors in its meeting on 19/05/2012 reviewed the above guidelines and
approved a scheme for Compensatory Off to officers who are required to
attend branches/offices on Sundays and Holidays for Bank’s work.

The salient features of the scheme are as under :

1-Officers who are called upon by the Bank to work for major part of Sundays
and/or Holidays shall be allowed Compensatory Off in the following week or at
the most within a fortnight’s time, as per the convenience of the Bank, against
the Officer’s request in writing.

2-Prior permission of Appropriate Authority needs to be taken for requisitioning

the services of officers on holidays and Sundays. In case it is not feasible to
obtain prior approval, post facto confirmation of the Appropriate Authority must
be obtained immediately thereafter.

3- Compensatory Off shall not ordinarily be allowed for clearance of routine

work and for any other work which could have been attended to during normal
working hours.

4-Compensatory Off shall not be allowed for participation of officers in the

Business Conferences/Seminars of the Bank as well as for their nomination for
conferences/Seminars organized by outside agencies on Sundays/Holidays.
However, officers who are called upon to assist the organizers of the
Conferences/Seminars shall be allowed Compensatory Off as stated above.

5-Compensatory Off shall not be allowed in cases where officers are being
allowed Diem Allowance as per rules.

6-Compensatory off will not be applicable to those officers who attend to Safe
Deposit Vault on holidays.

7-Compensatory off will not be applicable to officers on security/protocol duty

who are eligible to draw diem allowance for the same.

8-Compensatory off will also not be applicable to Officers required to undertake

journey/travel on Sundays/Holidays in order to attend meetings/seminars,
training etc., who are otherwise eligible for diem allowance.

Note : With the commencement of provision of Compensatory Off to Officers

for attending Branches/Offices on Sundays/Holidays, the existing provision of
reimbursement of Diem Allowance to them for such attendance at
Branches/Offices shall be discontinued, except for those officers for whom Diem
Allowance has been permitted as stated under points No. 5, 6, 7, & 8 above.
9- An officer who is required by the Bank to work for major part of
Sunday/Holiday will have to submit a request in writing to the branch/office
where he/she is posted, opting for the day on which he/she desires to avail the
compensatory off. The said request of the officer will be forwarded by the
Branch/Office to the Appropriate Authority with due recommendation.
Following points shall be kept in mind while forwarding/sanctioning the
compensatory off to the officers.

· The concerned officer shall be required to take compensatory off in the

following week or at the most, within a fortnight’s time.

· The compensatory off should be sanctioned as per the convenience of

the Bank. The normal functioning of the branch/office should not be
hampered on account of the compensatory off.

· The compensatory off should not be combined with any Holiday/Sunday.

· Two or more compensatory off should not be combined or taken on

consecutive days.

The Appropriate Authority to approve Officer’s request for compensatory off will
be as under:

For officers posted at Appropriate Authority

Branches/Offices in the Zone Zonal Head

Circle Office Circle Head

Field Inspectorate Head of FI

Central Staff College/RTC Principal, CSC/RTC

Head Office G M(PSD)

The aforesaid provision is effective from 19/05/2012
