5 a. The 3 possible constant variables are
Amount of fertilizer
Type of plant
Other things like amount of sunlight , air , wind speed etc.
If we don’t keep these factors constant we can’t be sure that the factor we are testing (in this
case → Effect of different fertilizers) is responsible for the observation we see. All the above 3
fertilizers effect the observation of the experiment. If amount of fertilizer isn’t constant then you
can’t tell which is more effective. Same with the type of plant as water intake depends on plant
to plant. Sunlight , air etc also influence water uptake up to some extent.
5 b. If we don’t keep these factors constant we can’t be sure that the factor we are testing (in
this case → Effect of different fertilizers) is responsible for the observation we see.
5 c. An experiment shouldn’t have more than one independent variable. If there are 2 or more
we can’t accurately tell which one caused the observation and upto what extent. Having one
independent variable will enable us to know its and its alone effect on the dependent variable
quite accurately and we can rely on our results.
5 d. I used a Bar graph because I wanted to compare between different fertilizers.
5 e. I think the experiment is perfect.
