INTRODUCTION This Instruction Manual contains information on operational procedures to perform embroidery on ‘caps and tubular goods by using the TAJIMA Automatic Embroidery Machine TMFX II-C. Please read through this manual and make sure you understand the contents before operating the embroidery machine, For cap embroidery, a semi-wide cap frame (option) is available in addition to a wide cap frame. The ‘same cap frame drive unit is used for both types of cap frame, The contents of this manual are divided into the following major sections. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SWITCHING TO CAP FRAME SPECIFICATION SWITCHING TO TUBULAR GOODS FRAME SPECIFICATION Always keep this manual at hand for whenever you need it. This manual may contain discrepancies in detailed information when compared with the actual ma- chine due to continued research and improvements. Even in such a case, the contents of operations are almost the same, so please follow the procedures explained in this manual. ttany question about the machine or contents of this manual arises, please consult your local TAJIMA distributor. Keep this Instruction Manual for future use. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Operation of a cap frame or a the tubular goods frame requires appropriate setting and cor- ract operation to ensure safety, Please read the safety instructions in this manual carefully and do not attempt operation be- fore you thoroughly understand the safety instructions. Items which require your special attention when setting and operating the cap frame and tubular goods frame are specified following the waming symbol and signal word. These items must be strictly observed to ensure safety during setting and operation. Signal word definition is given below. AX CAUTION ..... Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury!NOTE! or property damage. NOTE: An injury that dose not necessitate hospitalization or visit toa hospi- tal over a long period. The items which supplement the information given in the explanatory texts are described following [REMARK] ZX CAUTION Always make sure the power Is turned OFF before performing any of the operations described in this manualif you perform operations with the power left ON, you may be Injured due to un- expected machine movements, REMARK: In this manual, illustrations of a TMFX II-C 4-head machine are used for the pur- pose of explanation. Therefore, some of the illustrations may differ from the ac- tual machine that you are operating. Even in such cases, the operational proce- dures are basically the same, so please follow the steps explained in this manual. [1] Removing the Tubular Goods Frame Sash Loosen the locking keys (a) and remove the tubular goods frame sash (b). [2] Replacing the Needle Plate Remove thé standardtubular goods frame needle plate (a), and install a wide cap frame needle plate (b). (a) 1-2 [3] Installing the Cap Frame Unit REMARK: If the cap frame unit has not been assembled, assemble the unit following the procedure given in “Assembling the Cap Frame Unit" on page 1 - 10. 1) Install the cap frame unit (c) tothe Z-spec. frame (d) so that the drive ring (a) fits on the bed (b). 1-3 2) While fitting the rear edge of the shim’s stepped part (f) to the front edge of the Z-spec, frame (d), tighten attaching screws (g). REMARK: When tightening the screw (g), slide the joint plate (h) and use the hole for screw turing (i) so that the screw can be accessed through the hole. 4) Remove the screws (p) that hold the slide angle set (0) in place on the cap frame base (n). 5) Check if the projection (r) of the wide cap frame needle plate (q) is positioned at the center of the needle plate guides (s), and also check if the felt beneath the needle late guide (s) contacts lightly the top surface of the wide cap frame needle plate (a). If itis not positioned at the center nor contacting lightly, loosen the drive base (t) ‘screws (u) (4 screws) and adjust the position of the drive base (t). 0 @ [4] Adjusting the Drive Wire Tension REMARK: This operation should be performed only when the wire tension has been altered as in the following cases: When the cap frame unit is installed for the first time When the tension wire came off while the cap frame unit is stored 1) Loosen the screws (a) and loosen the drive wire (b). 2) Slide the slide angle (c) so that the punched hole (d) on the top surface of the slide angle is positioned at 237 mm from the center of needle location. 3) Tum the drive ring (e) and align the center mark (f) with the center of needle loca- tion. 4) Align the outside surface of the left side slide nut (9) with the punched hole (d) on the top surface of the slide angle (c), and tighten the screws (a). eee (237 mm_ jl 7m f 5) Tum the tension nut (h) of the wire tension gauge to move the tension block (i) to the innermost position.
