TRUE MEANING OF EDUCATION

What do we mean by true education? It means the growth of a child

into a good human being, rather than acquiring the first position in class. The main
purpose of education is to prepare a child to face the odds of the world.
But unfortunately, most parents have a mindset that says, “Education
is getting a degree, getting better marks than the class topper and getting a good job,
even if their child is unhappy from all these things.” This mindset results in the
mugging up of lessons, without actually understanding the concept. These children
will receive degrees from great institutions but will never remember anything they
learn. This education is worth nothing and converts children into trained monkeys.
Parents, should instead, encourage their children to take part in various co-curricular
activities and functions organized but the school. This will build-up self confidence in
young minds.
As we know, parents are the first and most important teacher of a
child. So, there should be a great bonding between the two. Parents should
communicate with their children and be their best friend. Their bond should be so
strong that children can share anything with their parents without any hesitation.
There should be no burden on kids in achieving a huge percentage of
marks or getting into a premiere institution. Also, parents should never compare their
child with other children. Each child has his or her own potential of learning and a
unique subject of interest. Whatever parents do, impact their children a lot. So,
before giving sermons to them, parents should do that task themselves.
Parents shouldn’t tell their children to become a teacher or an
engineer when they grow up. Instead, they should tell them to become an excellent
human being and a responsible citizen.
Not only parents, but also teachers play a vital role in shaping the
foundation of a kid’s heart, mind and soul. They must give emphasise on practical
rather than concentrating on theory.
The most important goal of educating a child should be making him or
her a good human being, who respects and cares about everyone surrounding him or her.
