APPENDIX A Publication and ABS Acceptance of Filler Metals to AWS

Specifications
A table of the latest AWS specifications at the time of this printing is given on the following
pages. It is recommended that all submittals for AWS approvals be to the latest
specification. In cases where a particular AWS standard has been reissued, the need for
re-qualification of an approved filler metal will be governed by the following:

In instances where a new AWS specification is essentially unchanged, no new testing is

required. New certificates will be issued indicating the appropriate change in code
designations, at the manufacturer’s request.

In instances where the new AWS specification has been significantly revised, additional
testing will be required, where needed, to conform to the new requirements. New
certificates will then be issued to indicate compliance with the newly issued AWS
classification.
