WAVELENGTH (SLIDE 2 & 3 & 4)

The spectrum of visible light has about numerous different colours having different wavelengths.
The violet colour is said to have the shortest form of wavelength whereas red colour is said to have the
longest wavelength.
It can also be noticed in the below-given figure.

Frequency and energy (slide 5)

-The frequency of visible light is referred to as color, and ranges from 430 trillion hertz, seen as red, to
750 trillion hertz, seen as violet.

APPLICATION AND OTHER USES

• seeing the world

• signaling

• all the science that occurs using lasers emitting in the visible spectrum

• UV/Vis spectroscopy (spectroscopy that uses UV and Visible light)

• Astronomy

• Military applications

growing food (photosynthesis means plant growth, but also greenhouse effect in greenhouses\

IMPORTANT INFO
• Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see these waves as the
colors of the rainbow. Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength
and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen together, they make white
light. When white light shines through a prism or through water vapor like this rainbow, the
white light is broken apart into the colors of the visible light spectrum.

VISION

Visible light is the kind of light that humans can see. Visible light travels incredibly fast, consists of a
broad range of wavelengths and exists both as waves and particles.
