ABSTRACT

Background : Foreign body aspiration is the main problem that can increase mortality. In the
United States, 5% of deaths in children are caused by foreign body aspirations with average
age of under 5 years old. In Muslim Country,aspiration of turban pin most found in young girls.
In RSUDZA in the past year there were 4 cases of foreign body aspiration. At the age of under
5 years old, foreign objects are commonly reported is form of food . Whereas children aged
<15 years old foreign objects that are often found is such as paper clips, coins and turban
pin, and found mostly in the left bronchus. Taking foreign objects in the bronchus using rigid
bronchoscopy is the gold standard, but Flexible bronchoscopy can also be used, such as in
RSUDZA taking foreign objects in the bronchus using Flexible bronchoscopy with anesthesia
techniques using laryngeal mask airway.
Case: A 12-year-old was referred from a regional hospital with a history of bleeding cough,
pain when swallowing and coughing. The History was choked on a turban pin 7 days ago.
When in emergency room, a vital signin normal range.Physical examination were not found
abnormalities.in the chest x-ray which showed the radio-opac foreign body in the left main
bronchus. Bronchoscopy with LMA is done, a turban pin seen in the left main bronchus.
Discussion: Foreign body aspirations in children under 15 years old occur mostly in the left
bronchus.Chest x-ray can help to diagnosed of foreign body aspiration. Flexible bronchocopy
with laryngeal mask airwaymake it esay to take foreign body and reduce airways trauma..

Conclussion: Flexible Bronchoscopy with modified Laryngeal Mask Airway successfully in

taking foreign object without complication.
