11 TO AMEND SECTION 40-15-105, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH
12 CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CONDITIONS UNDER
13 WHICH DENTAL HYGIENISTS MAY MONITOR NITROUS
14 OXIDE ANESTHESIA, SO AS TO APPLY SUCH
15 MONITORING TO NITROUS OXIDE INHALATION
16 CONSCIOUS SEDATION.

18 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
19 Carolina:

21 SECTION 1. Section 40-15-105 of the 1976 Code, as added by
22 Act 109 of 1995, is amended to read:

24 “Section 40-15-105. Upon certification, as provided by the
25 board in regulation, and when under direct supervision of a
26 licensed dentist, a dental hygienist or an expanded duty dental
27 assistant is authorized to monitor nitrous oxide anesthesia
28 inhalation conscious sedation (dental analgesia).”

30 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
