How Road Repair Affects the Lives of People in 9th Street

BACKGROUND STUDY

In this study I am going to share why 9th Street is on under construction or repaired as people say. 9th
Street is a part of Barangay East Tapinac and Barangay East Tapinac is one of the progressive barangay
because of its proximity to the city proper and to Subic Bay Freeport Zone-SBMA, where industries and
establishments generate employments. Where 70% of the area covered is a haven of business
establishments and apartments. In-migration and transients has a greater number compared to other
barangays due to its strategic location for jobs. And also on this road are plenty of eatery and carinderias
because there are 2 schools near this street, lots of people passes by when and during the street were
started to be repaired and the fact that people always go through this area affects their daily lives. It was
a hassle when they started repairing the roads because it was almost not passable by students and
residents residing or living near the place.

This Street is known for fast moving flood because of the drainage system that was full of garbage or it is
not dug deep enough, through the years there experiencing it isn't good. most especially to the people
who pass by on this street. The worst part is the flood there can raise up to the residents knees level
maybe because the area is too low or the drainage system is easily filled up only for a short period of
time which causes the flooding.

The road being repaired for almost 2 or 3 months which caused a lot of problems to students who pass
by and other people along with them. This is because of the machinery used for repairing the road is still
being used even if there are people passing by. It's a hassle in terms of walking or passing by the street
because there are dirt everywhere the road is very dusty.
