ASSESSMENT OF NECK PAIN AND ITS ASSOCAITED DISORDERS 2

Abstract

The objective of the study is to evaluate and correlate the literature to the assessment of neck. The

published literature on this assessment of neck is proportionate and ever changing and there is no

existing review of the systematic review on this the literature. The method that’s been used is the

assessment tools and screening protocols for any kinds of neck pain, that was conducted by

the bone and joint task force of the decade 2000-2010. It found 359 articles on the assessment of

neck pain. 95 (35%) were judged scientifically valid after the critical review. Screening protocols

has a high predictive value for detecting the fracture alert in cervical spine, low-risk patients who

are seeking for immediate care after blunt-trauma on the neck. CT scans has a better validity than

radiographs in terms of assessing the high-risk or multi-injured blunt trauma on the neck of the

patients. Valid self-report questionnaire is essential in assessing the neck pain, disability, function

and the psychosocial status to the individuals who are experiencing neck pain.

Assessment of Neck Pain and Its Associated Disorders

This article shows the main results of an organize review looking at the evidences with regards

to the validity and the value of diagnostic tests and self-reported disability assessment to those

people who has neck pain. It aspires that the best evidence synthesis approach will serve as an

information to clinicians on how best to confirm a diagnosis. To the physical examination of

patients seeking care for neck pain with associated disorders, there’s some evidence that

inspection, range of motion, palpation, strength and provocation test can be useful. The patient’s

self-assessment questionnaire appears to have a greater use in research. and in routine clinical

practice (Nordin, 2009).

According to Godolias, et al. (2010), many patients who are experiencing neck pain visits

health care unit to look for treatment to their problem, and health professionals aim to use the best

accessible evidence in making decisions about therapy or any kind of solution to resolve their

problems regarding neck pain that’s why clinician will specify systematically a hypothesis of likely

diagnoses and in many cases will going to obtain additional testing to confirm and explain the

diagnosis before suggesting actual treatment.

The “Nursing Need Theory” of Virginia Henderson can be used to resolve this issue because

this theory can help the healthcare providers to reconsider their actions in forming ideas in what

actions to do during the nursing practice. It emphasizes the basic needs of humans and how the

health practitioners can assist in meeting the needs of their patients as it is expected. Practitioners

should put their effort and devotion to their patients in helping their needs for them to recover from

their illnesses quickly.
