    A new development is the Aachen Rafeling Tester, ARTe for short, with which for example the demand of open-porous
    asphaltic surfaces can be simulated in an accelerated way.

    Thereby flat sample test specimens which are fixed on an oscillating propelled carriage are stressed by two tyres
    unrolling on the surface with reference to the development of grain losses at the surface. Thus it is for example in the
    context of extended aptitude tests possible to optimize the durability of open-porous asphalt.
