I. States that well-organized workshop must be most
effective to ensure safe working environments and
for using hand tools, machine tools, and measuring
instruments.
 Hand tools
A hand tool is any tool that is powered by hand rather
than a motor.
Examples of hand tools:
Wrench Plier

Cutter File

Striking Tools Struck or

Hammerhead
Screwdrivers Vise

Clamp Snip

Saw Drill
 Machine tools
A machine tool is a machine for shaping or machining
metal or other rigid materials, usually by cutting, boring,
grinding, shearing, or other forms of deformation.
Machine tools employ some sort of tool that does the
cutting or shaping.
Examples of machine tools:
Broaching machine Drill Press

Gear Shaper Hobbing Machine

Hone Lache

Screw Machine Milling Machine

 Measuring instruments
A measuring instrument is a device for measuring a
physical quantity. In the physical sciences, quality
assurance, and engineering, measurement is the activity of
obtaining and comparing physical quantities of real-world
objects and events.
Examples of measuring instruments:
Telescopic Feeler Gauge Bridge Gauge

Liner Measurement Tool American Wire Gauge

Bore Gauge Caliper

Micrometer Feeler Gauge

Depth Gauge Angle Plate

Dial Gauge Planimeter

II. States the importance that all the tools and measuring
instruments should be kept in good order and shape
to avoid accident and to ensure safety of life.
1. Only use tools in working order.
2. Avoid rust -the most common culprit of tool killers is
rust. Rust makes your tools unsafe, unusable, and just
plain sad to look at.
3. If a tool shows signs of needing to be repaired, take it
to a repair shop and get it sorted when you first notice the
problem.
4. Clean your tools after every use.

III. States the proper use of tools enables successful

completion of the tasks.
1.Keep all tools in good condition with regular
maintenance.
2.Use the right tool for the job.
3.Examine each tool for damage before use and do not
use damaged tools.
4.Operate tools according to the manufacturers’
instructions.
5.Provide and use properly the right personal protective
equipment.
WARNING: Never use a tool unless you have been
trained to use it correctly.
Each tool must be thoroughly checked each time it is
used, and appropriate personal protective equipment must
be worn.
