1. The Bad Beginning is a novel by Daniel Handler, or better known under his

pseudonym, Lemony Snicket. The novel is the first out of thirteen novels in

the Series of Unfortunate Events. It was Published September 30th, 1999.

Daniel Handler was born in 1970 in San Francisco, California. As a child, he

hated books that were overly happy. He prefered novels by such writers as

Roald Dahl or Edward Gorey. He married a woman named Lisa Brown and

they have one child named Otto. His books have sold more than 70 million

copies worldwide.

2. Count Olaf captures Sunny and says that if Violet doesn't marry him he will

kill Sunny. So they go and try to get married with the judge that lives next

door. Klaus gets Sunny out of the cage Count Olaf had her in and they

escape.

dreadful and tragic moments. While reading, the reader experiences feelings

5. The children are met with Count Olaf. He told them that he would be

accompanying them o the trip to Per. Afterwards, he tells them to go check

the Reptile Room. They find their Uncle Monty’s dead body in a chair. They are

horrified and they don’t know what to do about his tragic death.
